Blogging, Crafts, & Flynn Rider: An Interview with Katherine Perry

Hello, hello friend!

Today I have the privilege of interviewing Katherine Perry!! Katherine is a co-founder of Teen Writers' Nook and has been published in the anthologies Level Up and Tell Me You Love Me. She's also an incredible crafter and dancer, and is one of the sweetest, most wonderful people I'm blessed to call a friend!

Katherine recently started her own blog to mainly share craft posts, and I'm quite excited to see what creative projects she has up her sleeve!

This post is part of a blog tour, so if you want to check out more information about the tour, head on over here!!! (And just saying, if you do read AND comment on the Welcome post and then on any other posts from this tour, you'll be entered into a giveaway! I'll have more information about that at the end of this post 😜)

And now, without further ado, here is the interview! XP

1. Why did you want to start a blog?
Starting a new blog is something I had been thinking about for a while and some personal reasons I feel like are what pushed me toward it. I’m not very good at sharing writing tips, but I’m always getting craft post ideas. I just don’t feel like they fit on my other blog, Teen Writers’ Nook. With this new blog, I can post the things I get ideas for that don’t seem to fit on TWN. And at the same time, by doing this new blog, I have resolved to take the pressure off myself to try to be interesting, fun, or cool enough. I don’t want to worry about that but just try to be myself and discover who that is.

2. What kinds of posts will your readers see in the future?
So I can be a bit unpredictable, but some ideas and plans I have right now would be for crafting posts, maybe some writing update ones, and some organizational ideas posts. (And whatever else I get an idea for, hehe!)

3. What's your favorite craft that you've made?
Probably my crochet rug made out of t-shirt yarn. It’s a project I started in 2020 right before my sisters and I launched Teen Writers’ Nook, and it’s technically not finished yet, eh eh. But I’m almo
st finished with it and am quite proud of how it’s turning out!

4. If you could only use Pinterest (which is helpful for craft inspiration) or Goodreads (which is helpful for book and writing inspiration), which would you choose?
Pinterest definitely! (Sorry Goodreads. XD)

5. Do you ever see yourself publishing one of your books someday?
Yes. If not traditionally published, then I definitely think I would self-publish. It’s been my dream for a while to see the stories I envision in my mind in print form.

6. Would you rather go horseback riding with Flynn Rider and Maximus (from Tangled), swim with mermaids, attend a ball hosted by Cinderella and Prince Charming, or become small enough to visit a miniature fairy village?
Ah, what I love most about this question is that all these options are something I would love to do! Since I have to choose one option, though, I’m going to choose horseback riding with Flynn and Max for one simple reason . . . .Flynn is seriously the hottest animated man ever!!! He’
s so dreamy. I wish my future husband will look like him! XD

7. What's one piece of advice you would give to a beginning writer/crafter/blogger/creator?
Don’t be afraid to make mistakes in whatever endeavor you pursue. It’s in those mistakes and failures that we learn the most important things. And if you’re trying new skills, you also learn through mistakes how to improve.

8. I've heard that you love fairy tales. XD Do you have a favorite fairy tale?
Oooh, yes! My favorite would have to be “The Frog Prince.” That’s been my favorite fairy tale ever since I read The Frog Princess by E. D. Baker. Plus, I’ve loved fro
gs ever since I was little so that probably added to “The Frog Prince” being my favorite, haha.

9. How do you find inspiration for your creations (whether it's your stories or crafts)?
Well, Jesus is the source of my inspiration. Of that I am certain. I don’t know how He does it, but somehow He does and it works. XD If I was trying to be more specific though, it seems that I draw inspiration from everything around me. (Though that sounds kinda cheesy, lol.) But everything I take in and see and even my interests somehow influences how I get inspiration.

10. Which of these is your favorite: writing, dancing, or crafting?
Ah, my three loves! Must I choose?? XDD Okay okay, if I had to choose one, I guess I would pick . . . crafting. Of the three, crafting is the one area where I never worry about whether I’m good enough at it. Like, I’m often okay that my projects are flawed. In fact, sometimes it’s the flaws and imperfections of the projects that I love the most.

Thank you so much, Emma, for the interview!

Let's Talk!
Had you heard of Katherine before now? Do you enjoy crafting? What's your favorite fairy tale?
Do you agree that Flynn Rider is the most handsome animated man ever? XDD

  1. *GASP* I HAVE NEVER HEARD OF THIS KATHERINE BEFORE! We have the same last name, which is cool. I wonder if we're related. Maybe that's the girl who I always see every day and sticks around all the time like she thinks she's my sister or something. *shrugs*

Sarcasm aside, I LOVED reading this post, ladies!! Emma's questions were so neat and Kat's answers were a blast to read. I especially love the Flynn Rider response. XD If Kat ever gets a boyfriend, we'll have to let him know what her standards are. Personally, I'm going with Hiccup from HTTYD as most handsome animated man ever, specifically in the second movie. *fangirl happy sigh* What's your opinion on this, Emma?

  3. Wow, great interview and amazing questions!!! Girlll I love what Kat said about Flynn Rider, and I agree he is pretty hot. I'd say it's definitely between him and Jack Frost. XD
