Ares Book Review
Well, today I present to you my thoughts on it!
~~~~~~~~~~
"Ares could feel it. He could feel it in the frantic snow and the biting wind that pummeled ice into his face. He felt his sister crying."
His sister can't tell. Not ever. Ares is the son of the leading scientist in superhuman research, Dr. Hiram Bailey. His father thinks like everyone else. Supers are a stain on society. But he doesn't know his own twins have powers. Ares can keep a secret. But his sister? Her excitement over their powers just might make things dangerous for them both.
Overview
I wasn't sure what direction Jenna Terese was going to take with Ares. I knew that because it was a prequel it was going to tell the backstory of our little ice boy but I had absolutely no idea how Jenna was going to present it.
Whelp.
It did not fail.
Jenna managed to show how hard life was for Ares before Ignite and what his relationship with his family was like. It brought forth emotions that I hadn't gotten from reading a book in a long time.
In other words, this book made me cry (on the inside. There's only been one book that actually made me really cry XDD).
I'm not gonna say much more because of #spoilers, but I fully recommend reading this book after you've read Ignite. You could read it before Ignite but it probably wouldn't make much sense. 😜
Characters
Ares was pure gold in his story. I could sympathize with him so much. I didn't expect him to be so young, but I think Jenna did a fantastic job portraying what was happening through a little kid's eyes. And his love and concern for his sister?! My heart was ripping apart. It was also nice seeing what his relationship with his parents was like before *everything* happened.
Content
None!
Conclusion
This story just made me love Ares even more. I cannot wait for book two of the duology to come out because I need more of Ares and Scarlett and the rest of the gang. Now it comes down to the final thing:
The rating (although y'all probably already guessed it XD).
Yep, five stars! This short story totally deserves it!
*Disclaimer* I received an ARC copy of this bittersweet story that managed to break my heart into a million little pieces. All thoughts are mine, and I was not required to write a positive review.
Has anyone read Ares yet?
What did you think about it?
